Artificial Intelligence in everyday life

Where do we come across Artificial Intelligence in everyday life?

Face Recognition feasible thanks to Artificial Intelligence. It’s an ongoing development that might bring a lot of profitable changes, easement and convenient solutions to day to day life.

Let me introduce you to FR mechanism that uses AI, so you can understand better how it works.

In general AI uses psychology of face perception. It runs given data through it’s software in order to make a conclusion. To detect and recognize human faces AI uses a measuring tool called nodal points. While scanning a face AI marks and measures distances between certain points on one’s face. AI creates a print with minimum 80 nodal points. The scan is similar to a plaster cast, but it’s more like a digital net. Because we show emotions (even unconsciously) through facial expressions, AI takes multiple variations of nodal point’s placement under consideration.  Thanks to this ability it can identify and recognize an individual when  angry, happy or sad.

When the face-print is complete, in order to assign it to a name it’s run through identity databases. The most important thing about face scan is that it’s pertinent exclusively to it’s owner, only 8/1000 scans might be misidentified. Even from a distance. Thanks to AI’s almost 100% infallibility FR is expected to perform very important functions without making mistakes.

Nowadays, we are familiar with facial recognition thanks to it’s use on social media, unlocking our phones or confirming bank transactions.

Where else is this technology used? Is Artificial intelligence helping to maintain our safety?

In the automotive industry car’s computers with FR software are able to identify dangerous driving behavior such as drowsiness, anger or when you’re not looking at the road. Countries like China, Japan and United Arab Emirates FR use for catching criminals, facilitating airport control, or identifying people entering crowded places like stadiums during sport events, thanks to CCTV cameras equipped with AI. These are just a few examples where artificial intelligence appears in everyday life.
